RSM members recognised in 2026 New Year Honours

We’re delighted to see that 11 RSM members have been honoured in this year’s New Year Honours list, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to healthcare.

From forensic pathology and health services safety to medical research, the range of fields recognised is testament to the many ways in which our community is advancing healthcare to improve lives.

Order of the British Empire

Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE)

Dr Edward Baker. Chair, Health Services Safety Investigations Body. For services to healthcare.

Professor Jill Belch OBE FRSE. Professor of Vascular Medicine and Consultant Physician, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, NHS Tayside. For services to medicine and public health.

Professor Suzanne Rastrick OBE. Chief Allied Health Professions Officer, NHS England. For services to the allied health professions and to the social housing sector.

Dr Dwomoa Adu. Honorary Consultant Nephrologist and Senior Research Fellow, University of Ghana Medical School. For services to treating Kidney Disease in the UK and Overseas.

Dr Nathaniel Cary. Forensic Pathologist, Forensic Pathology Services. For services to forensic pathology.

Professor Scarlett McNally. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, and Deputy Director, Centre for Perioperative Care. For services to medicine, surgery and the NHS.

Professor Paul Workman FRS FMedSci. Lately Chief Executive and President, Institute of Cancer Research. For services to cancer research.

Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)

Professor Alan Boyd FMedSci. President and Chief Executive Officer, Boyd Consultants. For services to gene therapy and to medical education.

Dr Ava Easton. Chief Executive, Encephalitis International. For services to people affected by encephalitis.

Lorenzo Garagnani. Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. For services to children with hand and upper limb differences.

Lynne Hunt. Lately Chair, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. For services to the NHS.
